From Machines to Code:
My Journey to Becoming an iOS and macOS Developer
Nine years ago, my life took a transformative turn. I was a mechanical engineer, deeply immersed in a career that, while stable, didn’t ignite my passion. One day, a chance encounter with a colleague from elementary school changed everything. Over coffee, he shared his journey in software development and proposed that I join him. Something clicked—it was an opportunity to explore a world that intrigued me.
Leaving my career in mechanical engineering behind was not an easy decision, but my curiosity outweighed my hesitation. For nearly a year, we worked side by side, diving into the fundamentals of software development. Every project was a stepping stone, every challenge a lesson. But life has its twists, and after a year, my colleague moved to another city.
Suddenly, I found myself at a crossroads, equipped with basic knowledge but no partner to guide me. Instead of seeing this as a setback, I saw it as a chance to stand on my own. I began experimenting with creating small macOS and iOS applications. At first, it was a slow process, filled with trial and error, but persistence paid off. Soon, I was not just building apps—I was selling them on the App Store.
This endeavor not only sharpened my skills but also planted the seeds of a career I truly loved. Over time, my confidence grew, and so did my ambitions. Fast forward to today, I’m a full-time developer for a large company, contributing to exciting projects. In my spare time, I continue to develop my own apps—a passion project that reminds me of where it all began.
The journey from mechanical engineer to software developer wasn’t linear or easy, but it was worth every moment. It’s a story of rediscovery, resilience, and the power of taking a chance on something new.
